For so many, right now is a challenging time.
So to challenge myself I wrote this blog all in rhyme.
We are now many weeks into COVID-19.
To start the advice was “just keep your hands clean”.
Now we’re in lockdown and many can’t work.
And the kids are all driving their parents berserk.
When you go to buy food there’s a mile long queue.
Gatherings have been cancelled and holidays too.
Money is a worry but is it any wonder?
Businesses are struggling and some may go under.
We can’t see our family. We can’t see our friends.
There’ll be parties in the street when this all ends.
It’s so easy to focus on all that’s not right.
But in the midst of all this there has been some light.
We’ve seen new levels of kindness. Generosity too.
Captain Tom Moore, we‘re inspired by you!
Key workers show us strength by facing their fear.
And each week we thank them with clapping and cheer.
Our children have found new ways they can learn.
Small business has adapted with new ways to earn.
Families are finding more time just to talk.
And we appreciate the luxury of a simple walk.
The Earth is now healing, it’s been given a rest.
And community spirit has been at its best.
We’ve all come together despite being apart.
It’s encouraged us all to think from the heart.
Try to hang on in there, we will all get through.
But please just say if there’s something I can do.
